Wicked TINKERS

Posted on 11/25/2025

Prepare yourself for a wild ride with WICKED TINKERS. Pioneers of the growing Tribal Celtic movement, Wicked Tinkers have been playing haunting, heart-pounding bagpipes and irresistable, tribal drums as a professional band since 1995 and for many years before that at parties, renaissance faires and on various street corners. With the addition several years back of the mesmerizing drone of the australian didgeridoo and bronze-age Irish horn the magic was complete.

Sit back and be transported to an earlier time in Scotland and Ireland when battle cries filled the air and strange, unheard-of creatures roamed the night. Or better yet, get on your feet and let your body move to ancient rhythms and forgotten sounds. Don’t think that this is dry, dusty music for museum shelves- the boys in the band merge the best of modern, almost rock and roll energy with the hypnotic, insistent grooves of their gaelic ancestors. Rare is the bystander who comes away without feeling a surprising, sometimes bewildering connection with long-forgotten, primal emotions and half- memories of ages past and experiences unknown and yet somehow familiar. This is music to set your jaw, put a fire in your belly, a glint in your eye and a dance in your feet.

The WICKED TINKERS bring their vitality and humor to stages across America. They were on national television: THE GONG SHOW, THE LATE LATE SHOW with CRAIG FERGUSON. Touring the U.S. for most of the year, they have made friends and fans from all over the world at some of the largest Highland Games, including: Pleasanton in California; the Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games in Enumclaw, Washington; the Texas Highland Games in Arlington, Texas; festivals in Estes Park, Colorado, and Las Vegas, Nevada; as far east as the Oklahoma Highland Games; the Kentucky Scottish Weekend; the Rhode Island Celtic Festival; and the Mid-Winter Scottish-Irish Festival and Fair in Pennsylvania.

“heart-swelling music from a group called the Wicked Tinkers” – Mike McDaniel, Houston Chronicle

"Music that truly isn't about being pretty, it's about being forceful and filled with rhythms of life." - Chuck Thurman, The Coast Weekly

"A sound powerhouse!" - Antje Depone, Monterey County Herald

"The Celtic bagrock band ... the bagpipe-and-drums answer to The Clash! ... They play like their sporrans have been set ablaze!" - Dean Bonzani, Flagstaff Live

WICKED TINKERS sound is the distillation of the passion of a people and their music. Like a fine, smoky Scotch whisky, it's a little rough around the edges but unmistakably the real thing.

For thirty years this band has created an original sound that no other band has. With over 1000 concert performances to date and airplay around the world, the band has kept very busy spreading their brand of progressive folk music to a large audience. Performing both traditional and original music the band is very focused on presenting acoustic music in a very exciting up-beat way that appeals to all ages.

The band has written and recorded 96 original songs that appear on many of the bands twenty-one CD recordings. Many of the original works written by the band are based on Celtic history. Hailing from the historic Gold Rush Country of America, the four member Black Irish Band of twenty years, have a musical style that is as timeless as the rugged landscape of the west, a tribute to the people whose lives were spent building the world we now take for granted. The band has a large compliment of traditional maritime and railroad music, as well as ethnic tunes in their repertoire. They excel at Irish & Scottish, Italian, and American folk music with an assortment of original songs and traditional western ballads. The bands musical style captures the spirit of the immigrants of this land, the men and women who tamed the Wild West.

Since their inception, Golden Bough has become a popular and in demand group on both sides of the Atlantic, gaining critical acclaim and enthusiastic support from folk fans wherever they perform. In the recording studio, as well as on stage, Golden Bough captures the essence and joy of traditional folk music, and captivates listeners with the uniqueness of their original compositions.

Golden Bough has spent over 3 decades researching and performing not only the better known music of Ireland & Scotland, but also the music of the lesser known Celtic lands of Wales, Cornwall, The Isle of Man, French Brittany and Galicia (in Spain). Although their sound is rooted in the music of these Celtic nations, they have expanded upon these ethnic styles to create a sound that is unique in traditional music. This music has a wide and diverse variety of emotions and rhythms; from haunting ballads, mythological tales and beautiful airs, to lively sing-along and toe-tapping jigs and reels.
